- Humanity survives among the ruins by learning to resonate with the frequencies left behind by the catastrophe, giving rise to Resonators (共鸣者, *Gòngmíngzhě*) — humans who can hear and wield sound/frequency as power.
- The player is the Rover (漂泊者, *Biāopōzhě*), an amnesiac awakened from stasis who once led the Black Shores and now wanders Solaris-3 piecing together their lost past while fighting the monstrous Tacet Discords.
